Window of Hope 2010 | An Inner City Mission Experience | August 12-15

For all current 5-8 grade students! (High Schoolers are encouraged to be Jr. Leaders). Join us as we bring the hope of Jesus Christ into our Downtown Houston community through service projects, conversations, worship, and more. This is the 2nd Annual Window of Hope and pray that God would lead you to join multiple Houston-Area churches in bringing Jesus to those who need him most, including: the homeless, the poor, and the neglected neighborhoods.

Thursday:
8:00pm – Arrive at Trinity Lutheran (800 Houston Ave), check-in is at the Underground Student Center (church basement).
9:00pm – Event begins with games, worship, devotion
10:45pm – Showers
11:30pm – Lights Out.

Friday:
9:00am – Breakfast/Morning Devotion
10:00am – Depart for servant events (Independence Heights)
12:30pm – Lunch (Sack Lunches, Sandwiches)
1:30pm – Servant events continue (Independence Heights)
5:00pm – Dinner/Free time @ Discovery Green Downtown Park (Pizza?)
7:00pm – Arrive at ‘Church Under the Bridge‘ for worship service (Homeless Ministry)
10:00pm – Return to Trinity
10:15pm – Evening games, worship, devotion
10:45pm – Showers
11:30pm – Lights Out

Saturday:
7:30am – Breakfast/Morning Devotion
8:45am – Depart for ‘Church in the Park‘
9:00am – Arrive at ‘Church in the Park‘
11:00am – Lunch (Sack Lunches, Sandwiches)
12:30pm – Servant events (Generation One) 3306 Dennis St., 77004
5:00pm – Dinner (Spaghetti Dinner at Trinity)
8:30pm – Return to Trinity
8:45pm – Free Time
10:00pm – Evening games, worship, devotion
10:45pm – Showers
11:30pm – Lights Out

Sunday:
7:00am – Breakfast/Clean-up
9:31am – Worship @ 931 (Gym)
11:00am – Window of Hope ENDS /or/ You can go to the beach with the 931 worshipers to Galveston for picnic and beach clean-up.

Students participating in the Houseboat Trip and the National Youth Gathering will be cooking and serving you in order to raise money for these summer trips. Hope to see you there!

Middle School FUEL: GAME NIGHT! 5:30 – 7:00pm – We will be playing a bunch of games in the gym and also will have video games set up and a bunch more! Confirmation students… you will be with us downstairs until 6pm. Pastor Dorn’s class will meet like usual.

It’s easy to think of Jesus as one who is disappointed in us because we never measure up to his perfect lifestyle. Or of Jesus as a cartoonish figure who looks good as an action hero doll but has no idea of the day-to-day trials we currently face. Sadly, we fix our eyes on those incorrect images of Christ rather than what’s true. Jesus is an action hero, but not one made of plastic.

Rather, he was flesh and blood who came to the earth on the world’s greatest rescue mission-freeing us from the prison of sin. When we truly understand what Jesus did, we will live a life of thankfulness and be more inclined to view others in the same way Jesus does.

So join us for games, pizza, hang-out, and a great discussion and bible study!
